Hi, my name is Amanda, although most of my friends and family call me by my middle name, Rose. I like chocolate cake, no icing but a TON of sprinkles, eating creamy Jiff peanut butter off a spoon, Swiss cake rolls with not cold but not warm milk, dipping cheap iced oatmeal cookies in apple juice. Geez, you would think I liked food or something. I am big believer in taking adventures, which sometimes can be just going to the grocery store on Saturday morning! Adventures help the soul to grow and become wise. I also really love to read, going to the zoo, and gardening. I just love helping things grow and in a small way, making at least someplace on this Earth, just a little more green than when I found it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm in the process of making a very big move out of state and thought that this would be a great way to get to know some locals before I officially moved.

Also, it's a great way to meet wonderful people that you may not have ever met. Life's an adventure. If you don't live it, you haven't lived.

Interests

I feel like I'm filling out a dating profile, ugh. Anywho, my interests are pretty broad. I like most things that involve being active. I love to walk around and explore places. I love meeting new people. I love to read. The zoo is my happy place. I like road trips. I love baseball, don't really care much about any other sport but I will watch or participate in them. I like going to flea markets and antique shops. I enjoy beer and wine tasting, food tastings, etc. I love finding new favorite hole in the wall places to eat and hang with friends. I love to fly, I just don't like airport security, they are always so unhappy. :(

Music, Movies, and Books

I read just about everything but one of my all time favorite books is the Giver my Lois Lowery.
My favorite movie is the Emperor's New Groove but coming in as a close second is Good Morning Vietnam.
I listen to literally every genre of music but I enjoy Indie Rock, Alternative, and Classical more than most.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing I've done is let someone in and loved them with my whole heart. I know most people won't think this is amazing but if you knew me well enough, you'd understand exactly how amazing it really is.

Teach, Learn, Share

Learning new things doesn’t intimidate me, in fact, I live the Dr. Seuss quote, “the more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.”
I am currently attending classes to achieve my degree in Business Management. I, at some point in my life, want to influence individuals and businesses to grow in a positive and productive manner, I want to change the way employers motivate employees.
I think at every encounter you have with someone, you learn something. You may not know exactly what you've learned and the other person may not know what they taught you but you learned something. When we have these encounters, we're sharing. Just waking up in the morning is sharing. Much like the encounters of unaware learning, every day we unknowingly share ourselves with the world.
