I want to know how to become a professional nomad. I'm a glitter addict with a penchant for live music. I cannot go a day without ice cream. I believe traveling teaches you more about yourself than anything else on this earth. My perfect day would be spent exploring unknown lands with new and old friends.
When I'm not exploring the globe, I hang out at an elementary school ... no, not with the children - I work for a charter school doing all of their marketing and communications. I taught high school US History for a few years, but I got tired of hanging out with teenagers every day.
The journey not the arrival matters. (T.S. Elliot)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I use Couchsurfing as much as possible when I travel, whether that's staying with CS hosts or taking part in CS meet-ups and events in the cities I'm visiting.
I've Couchsurfed a few times in the states and multiple times on my last backpacking trip in Europe. I cannot tell enough positive stories about my CS experiences - my goal is to convert all of my friends (and strangers) to become CS lovers.
Concerts, shows, DJ sets, impromptu jam sessions, music festivals, dancing, cooking for friends/family/strangers, hiking, exploring, trying new beers, and laughing
Music, Movies, and Books
I don't discriminate against any form of music, but there are definitely some genres that I enjoy more than others! Indie rock, alternative, electronic are some of my favorites. I love Mumford & Sons, Odesza, Lord Huron, Kygo Coldplay, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Florence & the Machine, Passion Pit, Of Monsters and Men, The Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar and lots and lots of others!
I accept any and all book suggestions--I love to read, but I don't always have the time to read for pleasure. I've read the Harry Potters series a few times, but one of my all-time faves is The Poisonwood Bible. I also read non-fiction history books after teaching US History for a few years.
And, I can't possibly begin to list all of my favorite movies, but a few of the top ones include Shawshank Redemption, Forrest Gump, Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, Cruel Intentions, Searching for Sugarman and Edward Scissorhands.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was flying in an airplane on the night of the July 4th and witnessed fireworks from above the clouds. It was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. All the shows I've seen at Red Rocks in Colorado have blown my mind - listening to live music with mountains as a backdrop is unforgettable.
