Music, Movies, and Books
I love history because it carries the legacy of humanity with it. However I think we forget our own history too often, so I love to write as a way of keeping my personal history in the form of poetry, plays, essays, blogs, and thoughts.
Music is my heartbeat. I love lyrics that dive into the human condition and share universal truths and feelings.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Seeing the Danube at night in Budapest took my breath away. The people that have lived, sacrificed and suffered there seem to speak through every building and in every street. It was hauntingly beautiful and will live with me forever.
I saw a gorgeous modern dance piece by Hofesh Shechter in Paris that moved me to tears from the moment the curtain rose till the moment it fell. I have never experienced such an emotional connection to something without any words being spoken. This man choreographed his life into moving bodies and as a result put moments of my life into action right before my very eyes. What a gift.
Auschwitz was a singular and humbling experience that will be engrained in my heart for eternity. The tragedy that took place there and the hope that was enstilled in these people is a monument to the power of the human soul. We have the ability to change the world for the better even in the direst of circumstances, these people are the proof of that.
