See new places, meet great people, make new friends, take great photos, have unforgettable experiences, live and have fun!!
Just a regular, easy going dude. I like laughing, drinking and joking around. For fun, I photograph a lot of concerts which means I get to see some really cool shows for free! And I surf when I can (real surfing). My friends call me "Alex Mannediego" (like Carmen San Diego) because I always disappear somewhere. Saying that, I love traveling, adventure, seeing new places, and my favorite part of traveling - meeting new people. I'm amazed how many people you can meet just sitting at a local bar or walking around with my camera.
I treat people as I want to be treated. If there is no reciprocation, then it's adios to you.
Also, I try to be forthright and honest with people (well good people and people I care about at least) so they have no doubt about me as a person and my character.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Surfed my first couch finally in February 2009. Met some locals. Only hosted a few times but they were great experiences.
March 2009: San Francisco, met and hung out with some great people.
Oct-Dec 2011: Birmingham, AL. Met and hung out with some more great people.
I love Photography. I do it mostly for fun but would love to make money doing it which I'm on the path to doing. I've spent enough money the past 2 years on equipment I could have bought a nice car. I also enjoy drinking, surfing, snowboarding, music, hiking, adventure, travel, road-tripping, NFL, college football, baseball, trains

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Been to Iraq twice. Spent 8 months in Afghanistan. It was a once in a lifetime experience that I'd do again in a heart beat. I have many good memories and some bad. I will always remember the kids and how happy they were when we would come to their village. They weren't frightened. They were actually intrigued and curious. Just check out my photos and see for yourself.
- Spent Christmas 2012 at an orphanage in Honduras. We brought the kids ice cream and cookies.
June 2013: I stand up paddle boarded the entire length of the Allegheny River - 10 days, 310 miles from Cloudersport, Pa to Pittsburgh, Pa.
July 2013: Ran with the bulls in Spain.
July-Sept 2013: Drove over 13,000 miles through 33 states and 4 provinces in Canada.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach guitar or drums, how to shoot guns, photography, surf and standup paddle board. I'd say 85% of the time I go out on my SUP, I see dolphins. Maybe if you try it, you'll get lucky. Other than that I'm pretty useless. But I do enjoy sharing my photos, and stories of my times in the military, Iraq and Afghanistan.
I like learning anything interesting and ways to better myself; share music, life experiences and some drinks!
