We are Rowan and Alix, two university students from Quebec living with our dog Farroukh and two cats; Moya and Lhasa on the Plateau-Mont-Royal.

Rowan is an artist studying in Studio Arts. He moved to the city from Morin-Heights (about an hour north of Montréal) three years ago to start his higher education (CEGEP). He is currently in my second year at Concordia studying Studio Arts, and work part-time in renovations/construction.

Alix is in her second year of her bachelor's at UQAM, studying political science. She grew up in Bromont (about an hour south of Montréal) and moved to the city to start CEGEP (which is where we met). She works as a cook at a great local brasserie.

Now that our semester is finished and it’s summer time, we have more time to spend with couch surfers. We enjoy sharing meals, going out for drinks and discussing our travels. We can give you recommendations and show you around a bit.

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

We originally joined Couchsurfing together on a trip through Western Europe and Morocco. We met a lot of really great people and are grateful for our experience and their kindness. Now that we're back in Montréal we'd like to return the favour and host.

Our favourite genres of music are modern/experimental jazz, IDM, trip-hop, shoegaze, rap and prog rock, including artists such as Massive Attack, Amon Tobin, Aphex Twin, Lhasa De Sela, Dry Cleaning, Medeski Martin & Wood, Phillipe Brach, Black Midi, Swans, Eartheater and Björk.

Some of our favourite movies that we've both seen are Donnie Darko, Birdman, Amelie and Nighcrawler.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I was accepted for a young artist's digital residency at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in 2023 along with one other artist, which took place over twelve weeks resulting in a duo exhibition at the museum.

Alix was the Québec recipient of the Beaverbrook Vimy Prize of 2018; a bursary awarded to a student of each province of Canada as well as one from France and Scotland to visit three countries in Europe (England, Belgium and France) on a guided tour focused on the second world war.
