In January I moved to the enormous city of Sao Paulo to teach English in deprived communities and to hopefully help the local people receive access to greater and fairer career prospects - with intentions of learning Portuguese also! Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Whilst being totally overwhelmed I am looking to make new friends who can help show me around this beautiful place, help me learn Portugese, and people I can stay in contact with for life maybe! Life is fundamentally relational and making friends and meeting new people is how I want to live mine.

I am very open-minded to all 3 of these things and will give almost anything a chance. My favorite books are based around, though not limited to, philosophy and non-fiction as I never stop my endeavor to learn new things!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

During 2017 I lived with my Aikido teacher (Sensei) for a period of 10 months. This was in a role called 'Uchi Deshi' which is designed to be a rigorous training and working period. It was my job to sacrifice myself for the good of my teacher, my dojo, and the art of Aikido itself. I taught kids and adult classes daily and was not allowed to miss any training sessions as I trained/taught 6 days a week relentlessly. It led to me graduating to Black Belt in December and was one of the hardest thing s that I have ever done.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teaching has become a surprise passion of mine, not something I would have imaged when I was younger! I love sharing knowledge with people as I believe that without the sharing of such things, they become useless and invaluable.
