ABOUT ME

Roger has been a teacher all his working life; Joy has worked in a variety of jobs including lifeguarding, retail, counselling, charity work before becoming a teacher for the last 13 years of employment.
We have 5 children and 7 grandchildren - live in small cottage or housesit when not traveling - both reasonably fit.

PHILOSOPHY

Live simply in the present; seek justice and the establishment of human rights; learn from everyone you meet;

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Currently traveling therefore not able to offer hospitality but willing to give whatever we can when we surf with you.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfed all over USA in 2010 then in Costa Rica in 2011 and France in 2013. Hosted hundreds of guests over the years but no official couchsurfers as we're still traveling.

Interests

Reading, cycling, (cycled the length and breadth of France in 2013 - 2,500km then Belgium and more of France in 2015 - 3,500km), hiking (completed South West Coast Path in 2009 - 633 miles) music - most types except country; (Joy - guitar; Rog -violin); discussing politics and religion; environmental and peace activism; listening to Radio 4 (except the biased news!!); wildlife; sustainable lifestyles; yoga

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watched the sunrise at the top of Mount Kinabalu and the sunrise and sunset over the dunes in the Namib desert - Sosussvlei; sandboarding at 70 mph down dunes; learnt to ski at 58 years old; birthed and raised 5 children.

Teach, Learn, Share

Good DIY skills - Rog can fix anything; also great cook. Joy:Handicrafts - knitting, crochet, embroidery; enjoying life with very little money; singing
