Hello! I’m Roxy (22). I’m a recent university graduate from Philadelphia. I have a degree in theater with a concentration in acting and film. I am backpacking across Europe with my best friend of about 9 years, Madi (22). We’ve been dreaming of taking this trip since we were 17.
Madi just recently finished her Bachelors and Masters in psychology and is headed to law school. We are new to this app, but so excited to start sharing our apartment and local knowledge in Philly with friends from all over the world when we get home. While we are new to this community, we cannot wait to put ourselves out there and start engaging with others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We are both looking to build more relationships abroad in order to better understand cultures outside of our own. We are traveling for a long time with just each other so we jump at the opportunity to engage with others together. We have known each other a long time and love to share our friendship with others. We hope to bring entertainment and our knowledge to those who are as curious to about the world as we are.

Interests

We are interested in nature (hiking mostly), museums, art, landmarks, monuments and nightlife. Live music is a must-do wherever we go. We do not drink much at all but we smoke frequently (only the green stuff). No cigarettes or spliffs as they call them here. We really enjoy the culture of smoking and are happy to share. If it is not your thing we are also happy to keep it to ourselves and/or away from you and your space.

Music, Movies, and Books

We love classic rock, indie, folk, jazz, rap and pop music as well as many other genres. We’re big fans of romantic comedy, but I also love all kinds of film and lit including classics, horror, documentary, indie, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Growing up, I helped my parents run a motel on a small beach island in New Jersey. It has greatly contributed to my desire to travel and just my overall perspective on life.

Madi has 3 middle names. We can tell you the story sometime.

Teach, Learn, Share

We are hoping to teach and learn within the realms of literature, music, history, queer lit and history, psychology, law, education, theater, politics, sociology, philosophy, photography and fashion.
Madi speaks decent French!
Im hoping to engage in Spanish language exchange as well (although my skills are very basic).

Both of us have served, bartended, etc in restaurants since we were about 16/17 and are interested in learning about restaurant culture around the world.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am happy to share my culinary skills, I can make almost anything if I can access instructions. I am a pro at household tasks (cooking, cleaning, sewing, etc.) should anything need to be done. Madi is a wonderful film photographer. We hope to share our knowledge of literature, art and music. Madi and I are both artists; however, her knowledge of the visual art and music far surpasses my own.
