I quit my job to travel through Central and South America on my motorbike for the next year. I'm 38, single, childless, and with no mortgage, so I thought, When else would I be able to take on such an adventure?

Me quité mi trabajo el año pasado y ahora viajo por moto por todo de Latin America. Soy 38, soltero, y sin hijos o dueda, entonces pensé que es un buen tiempo explorar el mundo. Hasta aquí he estado en hoteles, con amigos, o hice camping pero quiero conocer mas locales porque me di cuenta que el mejor parte del mi viaje ha sido la gente.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The best way to explore new places is with new people. Most of the strangers I meet are friendly, warm, and interesting, but even with the few bad ones in the bunch I never fail to learn something.

Interests

Mountain, ice, and rock climbing. I recently spent a month in Huaraz, Peru climbing in the Cordillera Blanca range.

Art and photography: I used to teach college art courses in drawing and painting, although I rarely get the time to do it anymore so I have embraced photography for now.

Motorbikes: I can talk bikes all day.

Music, Movies, and Books

BOOKS
I have a wide range of tastes, so any list of books and movies would be too long to put on here. I read history, fiction of all types (McCarthy, Murakami, Orwell), and general non-fiction when I want to learn a skill. I am trying to read books by Latin America authors (in translation) during my trip, so please offer suggestions if you have any.

MUSIC
I like nearly every style of music, but most of time listen to classic rock, jazz & blues, old school hip hop. I'm trying to explore more music of Latin America as I travel, so please offer suggestions. So far my favorite new discovery has been a Uruguayan musician named Jorge Drexler.
