About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To finish what I've started, to explore and expand my love for languages and for other people. To meet some interesting individuals and just simply enjoy myself, whenever I can.

ABOUT ME

I'm very open-minded person and that's what I value above anything else in other people. I could be at times a little bit eccentric but you might learn to like it after a while ;P

PHILOSOPHY

I believe, that a little bit more of tolerance and open-mindedness would make a huge difference in the world we're living in.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm trying to take part in couchsurfing as a real person, not a tourist hoping to save some coin on a free hotel. Meeting all the new amazing people and sharing small part of our lives, even with all our differences and – sometimes surprising – similarities is truly extraordinary. Then, there's sightseeing with the direct tips from the locals and sometimes – making friends with complete strangers almost accidentally. Honestly I don't think there's a better way of travelling than CS.

Interests

I'm studying Serbian and Slovene languages, currently on my Erasmus mobility in Kragujevac, Serbia and thinking seriously about starting studying English as well.

I used to be absolutely mad about cinematography – this was my biggest hobby EVER, I even thought seriously about going to film school and becoming a movie director. My dreams have changed long time ago but I'm still a huge cinemaphile. I don't have a favourite film type though – sometimes I'm in mood for a complicated and serious drama, sometimes I need a silly comedy, but I used to go to a lot of film festivals and spent good part of my summer holidays in a dark film theatres.

My other hobby was always drawing and all the "art stuff" so I though that studying graphics design at Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice will be the perfect scenario for me. This way I spent 3 years of my life being vaguely unhappy and confused as to why making my dreams come true is making me so unhappy. Finally I dropped of, and right now I'm a happy student of Slavonic philology, discovering my love for languages along being a bored graphic designer-wannabe.

Except from that I have A LOOOOT of really obscure interests, I like all the problematical sociogicall issues that are currently so popular in media, I'm into gender, women's rights, equality and a bit into politics. I love British sense of humour and the UK, big Harry Potter fan.
Probably he weirdest thing I'm OBSESSED with are atomic bombs and the history of nuclear energy, the topic of apocalypse, destruction and annihilation

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC
A lot of different things: good, old classical rock, some crazy songs from the 80's, a bit of grunge and punk, indie rock, folk, film soundtracks, some sung poetry and ofc classical music.

Bands/singers like: Dire Straits, Darryl Hall & John Oates (Maneater!!!), Muse, Guns'n'Roses, Scorpions, Iron Maiden, Regina Spector, Birdy, Arctic Monkeys, Twenty One Pilots, Sixto Rodriguez, Mela Koteluk, Maria Peszek, Edith Piaf and many many others.

CINEMA
My film fancy: http://www.filmweb.pl/user/rozrywkowyradek
A pick of my favourite: Amadeus, Pulp Fiction, Mulan, Melancholy, Training Day, Into the Wild, Monsters Inc., Big fish, Sideways, Tangled, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, The Lion King, Sunset Blvd., Requiem for a Dream, Secrets&Lies, Fargo, Dangerous Liaisons, The Bridges of Madison County, Annie Hall, Nuovo Cinema Paradiso, Apocalypse Now, Jagten, La Vénus à la fourrure, We Need to Talk About Kevin

BOOKS
I try to read as much as I can, unfortunately lately it's been really hard to squeeze into a tight schedule…
When I can, I try to read as diversed books as possible. I used to really love fantasy (George R.R.Martin, previously LOTR and Ursula Le Guin, Philip Pullman), but right now I'll grab everything that will spark my interest ;)
I can't count, how many books I've read in my short life, but I believe each one had some impact on me, even bad ones.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share some weird or crazy anecdotes from my life. I can interest you in some random facts about atomic bomb, languages or typography and design. I can make you a meal, or at least try to (never poisoned anyone in my life, always might be that first time ;) Or I can just disappear as quick as you need me too after profusely thanking for the hospitality.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I could draw you a portrait (if I still remember how one does it), write you some of your favourite quotes using my best calligraphy skills (I'm not master at it, but I'm trying).
I don't have many experience in CS or in life in general but I can try to cook you some traditional polish dishes, if you want…

But thinking twice I'm really good partner, people like to be in my company, I'm a good listener, I don't have any special skills except being quite normal human being :P
