ABOUT ME
Sometimes it works out for me and sometimes it doesn't, but I like to "play it by ear," as my grandmother used to say. I like to experience a place before figuring out how to make the most of it, which usually means getting lost in the world and improvising my way through.
I will always have time to sit down with interesting people and talk about art, literature or philosophy in whatever capacity. I've been known to get into some heated conversations, but they are always in good fun, respectful and open-minded debates!
I'm an on-and-off avid reader, depending on time. I like to explore and get into the nooks and crannies of places that people usually miss. I love to be on/near the ocean, go fishing, climb trees and hike up volcanoes.
I'm spontaneous and will try anything once. I can be somewhat unpredictable and want to go out all night one night but stay in with a good book another. I may not agree with you, but I'll be respectful of your opinions and curious about why you think the way that you do. And I'll likely always want to know more!
I'm always open to having travel companions, last minute or otherwise. That said, I'm known for never complaining and need to travel with people who aren't negative and are flexible with their plans. A little optimism goes a long way with me :)
PHILOSOPHY
Everyone has something to offer and share, and I'm interested in meeting as many people as I can in my travels to learn from and have good conversations with. Travel can be messy, but I embrace that and consider it part of the adventure.
"Have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and to try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. Don't search for the answers, which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer." --Rainer Maria Rilke

Interests
I think anything can be interesting if you look at it the right way...so this list could be endless. Is that a cop-out?
The basics: I love art, music, cooking, learning and exploring, speaking foreign languages, doing something I've never done, hitchhiking, skydiving, and traveling (obviously). I wish I could meet everyone in the world, but I guess I'll have to settle for as many as I can.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Have climbed a volcano within the crater of another volcano, five times and counting!
Teach, Learn, Share
I would be happy to participate in language exchange if anyone wants to learn the obscure Kriolu of Cape Verde. I had a few good recipes under my belt (my dad is a cook) back in the States but I may be a little bit rusty so that depends on how adventurous you are...
