About Me

"Explore, Dream, Discover"

Once upon a time there was a girl from suburban California who imagined the world was much bigger than it appeared to be. When she got the opportunity to study abroad, she did so with gusto and flew to the most random island possible: Malta. After a few backpacking trips from there she was hooked as if it were heroin. She then changed her life around so she could explore every corner of the world possible. Suddenly she was climbing cliffs in Thailand, befriending monkeys in Bolivia, and practicing the ancient martial art of sunmudo in Korea. Her unquenchable thirst for exploring new communities, fantastic heights, and hidden corners all over the world can only be matched by her procrastination and laziness. She lingers nearly everywhere she goes, soaking in as much culture and fun as possible. There was no road she didn’t want to speed down on a moto and no food stall she wanted to pass without tasting something. The only thing that made her happier than traveling was sharing her experiences with others and offering advice. And so she wrote.

I'm outgoing, sarcastic, and sometimes the volume of voice can be too loud. (oops) But I'm very easy going and open to new experiences of all types. I don't make decisions easily but am always up for an adventure and love surrounding myself with fun and interesting people. While I enjoy going out a lot, I also need personal space sometimes to rejuvenate my energy and spirit. Things that are important to know about me: writer, vegetarian, procrastinator, loves sleeping in, loves delicious food and am willing to try anything (without meat), indecisive, asks a lot of questions, and I laugh and talk a lot. Also, I enjoy good beer and good wine. Cheers!!!

"open your heart, let it love, and celebrate your passions
wear your body out, but treat it nicely
laugh until you fall down, and cry until you stand again
know that you are beautiful
seek to teach with a passion that inspires-watch the ripples
keep communication open and your senses tuned
butterflies by the creek are your friends and teachers
embrace differences
the only constant is change-please don't fear it
be a good human
tread lightly-your path crosses all others

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Surfing where and when I can around the world. Since I don't have a place to call my own I can't offer a couch. But I'm excited to reciprocate all the wonderful favors that have been done for me one day <3

Never had a bad experience! Everyone has been warm, welcoming, and trusting! Such a great world to live in! :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a pretty diverse and open-minded person so I love all types of music, am open to any good book that comes my way, and enjoy a variety of movies. Favorite book: Ishmael. Favorite movie: Anchorman or Almost Famous. Favorite music: Dave Matthews, Tom Petty, Beatles, Bob Marley, and Micheal Jackson (because who doesn't love a good dance party?) plus many, many more...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was accidentally adopted into a family in the Dominican Republic. The grandmother took instant pity on my limited Spanish and made it her mission to make sure I was cared for. The rest of the extended family took me in as their own and I lived with them for a month learning about culture and family life, all because I asked a dumb question to the grandmother on a bus.
