About Me

Hi there!

I really hope to meet you some time soon, but let me just give you a bit of an intro on myself first...

I've think I've lived a full life so far - worked in Angola, lived in the Amazon, started a school, studied something I love and got my dream job - but there is still a lot I want to do. I want to live every day to the fullest, to reach great heights in whatever field I am without sacrificing the fullness that comes from a well balanced life.

I'm a quiet extrovert - I love people, but am not the party type (well perhaps I am sometimes). What I want is to meet interesting people, see places that are different to what I am used to and have deep and interesting conversations. I like to meet people who make me think and have real life experience to draw from.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Staying in hotels isn't for me - to get to know a country one needs to live with people who are from that country. I want to get insight into what the different normal is for the countries I visit. I hope to provide the same opportunity for others.

Interests

Playing electric guitar, hiking, reading, surrealist art (busy cultivating this one), good food, chess, Nordic movies (although I can never seem to remember the names), deep thought, teaching, learning more about other cultures.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived in the Amazon jungle with some of the local tribes for over a month. We hunted together, ate together (including monkeys, turtles, and Guiney pigs), and worked together.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Conversation on interesting topics, be it economic, political, business or some insight into South African culture. Good South African wine and biltong. An attempt at speaking Spanish. A game of chess. A hiking buddy. Intense life experiences. A willing ear. The best fine dining in South African.

Countries I’ve Visited

Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Angola, Norway, Peru, South Africa
