CURRENT MISSION

My current mission is to experience as many New Zealandy things as possible. So far I have done them all (great walks, work on a farm, work with kiwi birds) and I'm currently working on the last thing on my checklist: Work at a winery =)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I attended weekly CS events when I lived in Auckland and am currently couchsurfing as I road trip back up to the north island.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had a great time being a part of the CS organization! I have met some great people through fun social events and just recently went couchsurfing for the first time! It was fantastic!

Interests

I'm a rugby player and have played for the past 8 years. It's one of the things that drew me to NZ. Besides that, I love to cook, eat, drink good wine/beer, and hang out with great friends. I'm a conservation biologist so I love animals and the outdoors whether it's camping, tramping or just relaxing in the sunshine.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2007 I worked in Oregon on a project assessing Leech's storm petrels. The majority of the work was on an offshore island that had sheer cliff sides. One day we heard a puffing sound and turned around to find a gray whale feeding right next to the island. It was so close we could smell it's fishy breath. We didn't get much work done that afternoon but it was a great day!
