About Me

Hi, I am Rupam Talukdar from Assam, a north eastern state in India. (Popularly known for its One horn Rhino of Kaziranga National Park and Assam Tea)

Here is a quick peek to the place who are not aware..

A blog by a couchsurfer who visited my place if you need some info about:

https://www.quitandgotravel.com/2021/05/05/couchsurfing-numaligarh-and-the-kaziranga-national-park/

''My place is around 250 km from Guwahati, 60km from Jorhat (4th largest city of Assam) , around 50 km from Kaziranga National Park (A UNESCO world heritage sight) and 100 km from Majuli, the largest river island in the world. ''"

Although bit remote and isolated this place is a paradise for nature lovers. It also falls on the road to Nagaland (100 km).

Surrounded by tea gardens it's a nice stop in your journey.

I am currently working as a Process Engineer in an oil refinery.

I am an introvert and shy person. I love to be in company of people who have a great sense of humor and a history genius.

I live in a Township guest house room (Not that big) provided by my company (Numaligarh Refinery Limited). If anyone is visiting my place, I would love to help as much as possible.

You can look for me in my Facebook account as well.

N.B. If you are a Russian, do not hesitate to send me a couch request. Because I have a soft corner for them. They are just amazing. (This is not racism, I just love thier helping nature)

Update : I have been transferred from my original place to Guwahati for around 2 years, where I live in a college hostel. So, I won't be able to host for these two years.
But anyways I would love to meet if someone is in Guwahati and show you the city.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

"Travelling leaves you speechless at first and then it turns you into a storyteller"

This line pretty much sums up my quest to be in here.

There is a saying in Sanskrit (an epic Indian language) ,

"
Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam".

Which means " The world is one family"

Couchsurfing truly justifies that phrase.

To make lifelong friends from all over the world, this is the best platform to be in.

Besides, being involved in a job (boring), I hardly get much time for traveling and in
that short span of time I don't think there could be any alternative to couchsurfing for meeting up with locals, get glimpses of their culture and lot more. Travel budget also plays a very important role in that

Music, Movies, and Books

Most Old bollywood songs (90s) , Coldplay, Poets of the fall, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Churlie Puth.

Book: The kite Runner , The Shooting Star (Shivya Nath), Train to Pakistan, all the books written by Bhabendra Nath Saikia (A writer from my state, I wish the books were available in English as well)

I am a huge Bollywood (Indian- Hindi) movie fan. So, I can recommend you some of the must watch.
"The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am still thinking what was that thing !

Teach, Learn, Share

I learnt a little bit flute. So, may be I can offer you some tips, if you are a beginner.
I can teach you some Jugaad Indian technology as well.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Unlike most of the couch surfers I don't have any cooking skills. But my dish washing and room cleaning quality is awesome (as my friends say). So give your dishwasher and vacuum cleaner a day off and host me.

I am jack of all trades but master of none. Anyways I can play flute a little bit, so I may be able to make your evening a pleasant one with some folk music tunes. (Provided you have a flute :-)
