About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Off to Estonia for Mindvalley University from June 24th to July 26th. Will be able to accept couchsurfers when I return and possibly with my sister in my place while I am gone.

Currently building a tiny home on my sister's acreage! Come stay in a tent to listen to the coyotes at night and view the stars in the dark countryside.

To leap into the unknown and believe I will either be taught to fly or find a soft couch to land on. (Thanks to Edward Teller for his quote that I have just used for my own ends.)

ABOUT ME

Love to dance, play cards, scrabble, read, be in nature, cook, share great recipes, create great food, drink a glass of wine a night with book in hand (makes me feel rich and in friends I am truly gifted with abundance.)

I love to be active, and am a backpack woman with 7 backpacks each for their different uses and own no purses.

PHILOSOPHY

At the very least, do no harm. To use my smile and predisposition to cheerfulness to spread joy and happiness. To learn until I take my last breath. To practice resilience with small and big challenges.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Currently housesitting with no couch of my own to offer. I still have my acreage connections mentioned below with my sister. I plan on building a few 10x10 sleeping cabins on the land.

If you want a taste of acreage life in rolling hills Alberta and you are interested in and can cope with ecological measures, great. We have sawdust composting toilets. We do have running water. Coyotes sing at night and the owls hoot at early dawn. Bald eagles and hawks compete over ground squirrels. Come see the wildlife!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have been couchsurfing in my own city and town as I strive to not drive needlessly back and forth especially if I can combine any two days of errands/meetings/commitments with an overnight stay/visit with one of my city/town friends. I feel triumphant for the earth and less of a consumerist in addition to being blessed by friends with great couches and super conversational skills.

Interests

Continually learning and adding new interests! Alternative health, sharing how to brew kombucha, the environment, ethics, poetry, good writing, people, places, sharing skills, cooking with friends, walking and more walking. Enneagram personality typing for self-knowledge and team-building. Exercise, qi gong, weightlifting, camping, hiking, flossing, editing people's writing, helping people find places to publish, sharing good book titles, reading before sleep, great movies with meaning (I generally avoid horror or slapstick).

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: The Time Travellers Wife, White Gardens, Why Your Genes Matter More Than You Think (genetics book that was quite accessible), Global Spin by Sharon Beder (environmental ethics), Desert Solitaire by Edward Abbey (rogue opinionated environmentalist park ranger from America's southwest states), books by Michael and Kathleen O'Gear. Now movies: the Power of One, Secondhand Lions, Schindler's List, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Straight from the Heart (the most wonderful Hindi movie ever), Dolores Claiborne, Shawshank Redemption, Nuts, Field of Dreams, Steel Magnolias, Shirley Valentine and so many more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Only one???
Learned how to see my part in every interaction and take responsibility for my life, choices and dreams. Part of this amazing learning is that I have something to learn about myself from every interaction and learning the lessons early is less painful than later.

I have seen and climbed Ayer's Rock in 1989.

I've been present at the water home-birth of my great niece.

I've earned $75/hour for one poem commissioned by a Holland advertising agency. Poetry can pay!

Teach, Learn, Share

Enneagram personality typing and genogram past issue healing, writing and editing, sewing and mending, publishing tips and happiness skills. And kombucha, making a healthy sparkling beverage has become part of my daily life. Let me know if you want me to bring a SCOBY to you!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Conversation, music, love of life, sense of humour, cooking (love cooking for hosts), walking, authors, musicians, and me. I'm an open book. I may also be a worthy scrabble opponent!

Countries I’ve Visited
