About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To go to 2 countries in every continent :)

ABOUT ME

I'm 25, and writing this from my parents house in Sleaford, Lincolnshire. But in about a week I will be moving my life in my tiny, very old Micra to Bristol, in the hope I'll find a job and then a house (room in a house). Since I left university I've been in a constant flux between traveling and living back at home working any job to save to travel again, and although that has given me the most amazing experiences, I am ready to try and live in England for a while and make a base for myself.

I'm vegan (for animal reasons not health reasons - I eat a lot of cake!), and love vegan baking, and finding new recipes to try. I have no issue hosting or staying with meat-eaters, I take a relaxed, you do you, I'll do me approach to veganism and everything else in life to be honest. Although I may bake chocolate cake for you and make you eat it to prove vegan cake is yummy too! :)

PHILOSOPHY

Find the silver-lining in every situation.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING .

Right now, I'm about to move to Bristol, with no immediate job or house to go to. I'm hoping to use couch surfing during my first few weeks to connect with people in Bristol and make new friends. Once I have moved somewhere of my own, I can't wait to start hosting in a city that has more requests than sleepy Sleaford, where I was open to guests for 10 months and accepted and hosted my only request. :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've used couch surfing throughout both my long-term travel trips, and had the most amazing experiences and connections through it. I was also able to persuade my parents to let me host in my break back home between trips. I'm not in the process of moving out and establishing a life in England, and can't wait until I have somewhere to host again, in the hopefully near future.

Interests

I love vegan cooking, especially the baking variety. I have recently fallen back in love with film photography after losing it for a while after my degree. I love listening to music, especially live and acoustic and I'm always looking for new book recommendations.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - I don't love a specific genre, but rather the lyrics regardless of genre. An all time favourite is Frank Turner, who I always end up returning to regardless of my mood. The best live acts I've seen recently are Passenger, Stu Larsen and Tom O'dell, and I'm always partial to a bit of pop.

Books - The best book I ever read was Shantaram, which felt like I was reading the longest bit of poetry, and hooked me from start to finish. I read Ishmael in 2013, borrowing it from my couch surfing host at the time (Thanks Brandon!) and that changed my perspective on so many topics, although is till haven't read The Story of B. I generally prefer fiction, and anything by Paulo Coelho but I also love autobiographies, I read Tina Fey's last year which was great. I also reread all 7 Harry Potter's about once a year.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I saw the sunrise/sunset over the Alps, from 3,500m up while staying in a community in Ecuador.

I also survived a 10-day silent, Vipassana meditation retreat in Yangon, which was without doubt the hardest, most rewarding experience I've ever had!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can make a mean vegan chocolate cake, and I've told my cookies aren't too shabby either.

I'd love to learn anything and everything from anyone willing to share their knowledge and experiences.
