ABOUT ME
Hard question! We are Sandra and Martin. Obviously we love travelling and have both lived at several places, unfortunately one has to start working at one point or another, that's why we thought couchsurfing would be a wonderful way to have travelling both at home and in the world :-)
PHILOSOPHY
Life's maybe easier without just one philosophy.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Martin already has some couchsurfing experience, but since we've just moved into a nice flat where we can host people it makes it much easier for both of us to put people at ease.

Music, Movies, and Books
We like good movies, we like good music and good books as well ;-)
Recently we have started a very ambitious project: Reading one book and watching one film from every European country. If you have any suggestions you're welcome.
Apart from that, we love among other things:
SANDRA - all kind of Scandinavian films (beside all Bergman movies I love films like O'Horten and Adams AEbler), Spanish and Latin American films (Havana Blues, El secreto de sus ojos, Azul oscuro casi negro, Historías mínimas, Central do Brasil, O Primer Dia...), French cinema (L'élégance de l'hérisson, Chansons d'amour, films of Jacques Tati, Jean Becker...)... the list is so endless :) Music-wise I love Scandinavian artists like Kent, Eva Dahlgren, Anna Ternheim, Sofie Zelmani, Tina Dico.. and Latin American and French music (but more the contemporary stuff such as Raphael, De Palmas, Maná...), but also classical music and opera, jazz and soul and English-speaking artists such as Fiona Apple, Tori Amos, Joni Mitchell and Sarah McLachlan. Books - any book that makes me dream, travel and learn languages (like Gabriel García Márquez, Haruki Murakami, Banana Yoshimoto, Cees Noteboom, Olivier Adam, Orhan Pamuk). I'm also very much interested in psychology books (coming from Freud's country! :) that help me understand me and my surroundings better ;) And of course books about cinema, since I'm dealing with films in my job :)
MARTIN - I like most of the movies Sandra likes. My connection to former Yugoslavia makes me love the Kusturica-films and a lot of the old Yugo-Films (as Otac na sluzbenom putu, Underground, No mans land, Tito i ja,...). I also like the James Bond films. I love Hitchcock!! (Sandra too)
There's a lot of different music that I love: Blues (Skip James, Muddy Waters and the old stuff), Rock and Pop (Sting, U2, REM, Coldplay, Tori Amos,...), German rock music (Selig, Clueso, Rio Reiser, Olli Schulz, Niels Frevert, Stoppok), Balkan music (Dino Merlin, Vlatko Stefanovski, Darko Rundek) and I like West-African music (Salif Keita, Youssou N'Dour). And of course some of the great men and women in music like Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Ray Charles,...
My all time favourite is the Swiss musician Stephan Eicher.
I like story-telling books like the realistic novels, but also modern stuff. I enjoyed reading Tolstoj, Wilhelm Raabe, Theodor Storm, Thomas Mann, Heinrich Böll, Günter Grass, Max Frisch, Jaan Kross, Ivo Andric, Mesa Selimovic. My favourite book is called "Wie eine Träne im Ozean" (Like a Tear in the Ocean) and is written by Manès Sperber, a German-writing author from Ukraine.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Still waiting... Any suggestions? ;)
Teach, Learn, Share
Since we're both teachers we can teach you a lot of useful (and some useless ;.)) stuff: languages (Austrian German, German German etc.), how to make the best potatoe salad in the world, how to grow cucumbers on the balcony, how to prepare meat dishes with tofu...
