I live in Ithaca NY and work at Cornell University as an academic advisor for undergraduate students. As a side gig, I'm the advisor for (really I just hang out with) Cornell's Outing Club, an almost 100-year-old club that introduces students to the great outdoors.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've been hosting couchsurfers since 2009 and have met so many wonderful people. I especially enjoy when we get to see each other again in other parts of the world. I've only actually couchsurfed once but I've hosted many times. And I love reaching out and meeting new people when I'm traveling just to have coffee and get to know someone new.

Interests

My main outdoor passion is downhill skiing. I visit several new mountains every winter (usually chasing resorts on the Ikon pass). My most recent ski trip was to Vermont in May 2025.

Music, Movies, and Books

My strategy is to have one nonfiction and one fiction book going at the same time. I'm currently reading The Last of the Mohicans and a ski bum book, Powder Days.

Viewing strangers as friends I haven't met yet, which has made all the difference.
