Hello! My name is Ryan, i come from New Zealand and am a keen nature enthusiast that loves to hike, surf and explore. I'm 25 years old and currently taking a year to see all that Canada has to offer- I hope to spend lots of time trekking and exploring the Rocky Mountains, thus i am looking for a few places to stay along the way. Being my first time in Canada I am very keen to hear any suggestions or hints about travelling through this amazing country! I enjoy music and can play drums. As much as I liked to explore I am always down for a relaxed time, I like movies and enjoy making new friends!

I plan to travel through Canada for at least 6 months. Thus to extend my time for as long as possible I thought Couchsurfing would not only provide a means for this but also the opportunity to talk with locals and share experiences while hopefully gaining some insider knowledge!

Over the past year I have traveled to South America and had many wonderful experiences so putting a tag on just one is hard! But if I had to single one of the top things I did on these travels it would be climbing the final icy ascent to Torres del Paine (in Patagonia) at day break with clear blue skies and no one but my friend and I to enjoy the unbelievable scenery.

Over the time spent in South America I tried to pick up as much Spanish as possible. Alas I still have much to learn and am always looking to build on my understanding no matter where I am in the world! I would also be looking to acquire a basic understanding of Canadian French over the course of my travels in Canada.
Other priorities include secret surf spots (will supply wine/beer in return!) and local tips about potential hikes I will be doing.
