Overview
About Me
I was born in Northern California but moved to Hawai`i when I was very young. Growing up in an environment where I was constantly surrounded by nature and beauty has lead me to greatly appreciate the wonder of the world and want to see more of it! My travels so far consist of most of the U.S. West and East coasts, Costa Rica, Cuba, Mexico, and obviously Hawai`i, but there are countless places that I wish to visit.
As of August 2018, I have been attending Babson College near Boston, MA, which has been quite the change of pace from Hawai`i but an incredible experience. It is here that I am studying business, entrepreneurship and computer science. In 2019 I started a digital advertising agency serving small businesses in Hawai`i, which has given me the freedom to travel while working from my laptop - a long-time dream of mine!
I am now deeply interested in computer science (particularly web3 and data science) and building my personal brand online. I have a Youtube channel as well! (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCO5g0rUMkCJYgWn3F5TiCTg)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Since a young age, I have had a sense of adventure cultivated in me, primarily by my dad. It is mostly with him that I have embarked on the various adventures I have had, such as sailing with him and my brother from Florida to Cuba to Mexico, mountain biking down Mauna Kea on the Big Island, numerous backpacking trips in the High Sierra Mountains in California, and many other experiences. I recently lived in Costa Rica and Mexico City by myself for a couple months, which I see as the beginnings of my nomadic experiences. :)
While these journeys themselves are exciting and novel, I have found that having the right people with you transform an experience from "a good time" to something that will fill you with a sense of joy and gratitude every time you look back upon it for the rest of your life.
This is the reason I am now making an effort to not only experience as much of the world as I can, but share those experiences with other amazing and curious people!

Music, Movies, and Books
I have been a drummer since I was 9, and developed my taste in music around what I thought had the coolest drums in them. This lead me to enjoy classic and modern rock, with an evolution into progressive rock and metal. I will primarily listen to this music during workouts, and more alternative or indie rock outside of the gym. I've also recently begun experiencing the rave scene, which is a trip! ;)
I am not an avid movie-watcher, but do enjoy movies that have many levels of complexity and you have to work to figure out what's going on. Past favorites have been Batman: The Dark Knight, Memento, and other Christopher Nolan films.
I am a much more avid reader. While my reading career began with fictional tales, over time it has transformed first into an exploration of science and space and then, in the past few years, heavily focused on self-development, emotional intelligence and psychology/human nature, with some business and entrepreneurship books thrown in the mix as well. I'm now reading a lot of sci-fi in research for my honor's project on AI & consciousness.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I consider the most amazing thing I've done to be getting on a 30-something foot sailboat that my dad bought and fixed up over the course of a year, and then proceeding to sail that boat with him and my brother from the Florida Keys to Cuba, all across the northern coast of Cuba and over to Isla Mujeres, Mexico, down to Cancun, and a little further down Central America over the course of a few weeks. While there were many moments that made me question the intelligence of the decision to participate in this journey, I look back on it now as one of the most enjoyable and memorable things I've ever done.
Teach, Learn, Share
I think it's a given that I am curious in learning anything I can about my hosts' lives, cultures, beliefs, values, etc, just like the majority of people on this site.
However, something I would make a specific point to add is that I believe I possess a stronger-than-usual desire to connect with people on a level deeper than the typical friendly, surface-level niceties that I find pervade many relationships that I have observed. Because of this, I enjoy engaging in conversations that discuss personal topics many people feel they must hide and conceal from others, even though we all experience them.
I feel as if I am on a mission to break down the walls we put up between ourselves to protect our vulnerabilities, which, in reality, only prevent others from helping and therefore hurt us further. And while I venture to complete this task, I readily offer any support or assistance in any form that I can, as I have found no action more fulfilling or meaningful than helping others in this overly-disconnected world of ours.
On the business side, I run a digital marketing agency and online personal brand, which means I know a lot about how to market yourself/your business on the internet. This includes websites, social media, ads, and even crypto-related things like NFT's and social tokens. Lots of cool stuff!
What I Can Share with Hosts
On a different note, I can certainly share many things about the Hawaiian culture and what it has been like growing up in a place so revered by most of society. Since moving to the East Coast for school, I have found most people are fascinated by the fact that I am from Hawai`i (even more-so than the West Coast), and I have no problems sharing my experience living there. To save everyone the first question that 99% of people ask, yes, I do surf!
