About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Educating the masses on food, plastic pollution, and yoga.

ABOUT ME

I am generally a very happy person - always optimistic, glass-half-full type. I love to cook food for myself and others and find experimenting with new recipes to be a total ball. After spending a summer out on a tropical atoll in the middle of the Pacific, I fell in love with seabirds: they are beautiful creatures and we're destroying their livelihoods with our trash. To that end, I abhor single-use plastics and make it my mission to eradicate them from my life. Love to be outside doing yoga, reading, and generally adventuring around!

PHILOSOPHY

I try as hard as I can to stay present in every moment and to judge people as little as possible. I think smiling and stretching throughout the day does us all a ton of good.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm seeking a couch!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In the past I have primarily hosted folks at my house in Maine! I am now heading to Kauai where I and my boyfriend will be filming albatross for a documentary. We're looking for a space to crash!

Interests

I'm interested in good food, the ocean, the mountains, good books, eclectic music, and interesting people. I love learning about yoga philosophy and reading scientific journal articles that have to do with marine debris topics! Gardening is a big interest (and how to make efficient use of small spaces) as well preserving garden bounty.

Music, Movies, and Books

Any non-fiction sociology or food-type book (think "Freakonomics," "Traffic," "Omnivore's Dilemma"). Love the Harry Potter series, as well as the Hunger Games series. I'm pretty easy when it comes to music and will listen to just about anything as long as it doesn't involve death metal or gratuitous amounts of screaming.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have seen magnificent seabirds (Laysan Albatross) grow from a chick to a full-fledged flying bird - with 6 foot wingspans and a propensity to spend more time at sea flying than on land, this is no small feat. Watching them grow has put me more in tune with how I interact with the world.
