I am a Canadian teacher living abroad in the United Arab Emirates, teaching at a Canadian-curriculum international school. My areas of study are English Language Arts, Social Studies, and Film Studies. I have been in the United Arab Emirates now for two years and will be staying for one more year. After that, I plan to continue teaching abroad hopefully in Asia or Europe.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to travel - to experience new cultures, see amazing sights, and most importantly, to foster lasting friendships with fellow travelers or adventure-seekers.

Interests

I think it goes without saying (being on this site) that I love to travel and to meet new people. I absolutely love getting lost in new cities that I've never been to before and learning about that city as I make sense of my surroundings. I also love history, and love spending time getting to know and understand the history of the cities that I visit.

Music, Movies, and Books

My taste in music is all over the place with an appreciation for The Beatles, Oasis, Sigur Ros, Frank Turner, Beastie Boys, Foo Fighters, Simon and Garfunkle, just to name a few...

In terms of movies, I love Alfred Hitchcock and classic Hollywood cinema. My favourite Hitchcock film is North by Northwest. I also love Ingmar Bergman, with Through a Glass Darkly being my favourite film by him.

My taste in books is also all over the place. I thoroughly enjoy historical based mysteries, including the works by Umberto Eco and Arturo Perez. I also really enjoyed Watership Down. However, much like my taste in music and movies, it is too difficult to choose my one and only favourite.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a semi-decent cook, and can prepare some meals for my hosts.

I believe I can also share interesting travel stories and experiences with my hosts with the hopes they would be able to share their own experiences with me.
