Informazioni generali
Chi sono
I spent most of my life in Canada, then moved to Oklahoma in 2014. I've lived in St. Catharines ON, Calgary AB, Maple Creek SK, Edmonton AB, and Norman OK. I'm a Master's student in Meteorology at the University of Oklahoma, where I also plan to do my Ph.D. It probably goes without saying, but I'm a huge weather geek and science geek in general. I speak fluent English, almost fluent French, and decent German. I should probably curse less, but I really don't give a fuck. I love meeting new people (especially when I can speak a foreign language with them). I like hanging out with people, in both big crowds and small crowds. I like sharing activities with people. Most often such activities involve drinking beer.
Perché sono iscritto su Couchsurfing
Well, I like meeting new people and traveling, so I figure this is a good place for me. Why I'm joining now: I'm traveling to Europe (northern Germany, Denmark, Sweden) this summer. I'm going with my friend Natalie, and we're hoping to couch-surf with some folks in Denmark and Sweden. I would love to pay it forward and host some people in the future as well.

Musica, film e libri
Music: heavy fucking metal! My favourite subgenres are black, death, and old thrash metal. I also really like folk metal, medieval metal, some classical metal, some of the '80s hair metal, and a lot of weird experimental shit. I like anything that combines black metal with folk influences. Some bands: Maiden, Priest, Sabbath, Death Angel, Forbidden, Nevermore, early Metallica, early Megadeth, Overkill, Revocation, Scarve, Subway to Sally, Rammstein, OOMPH!, Eisbrecher, Equilibrium, Thyrfing, Windir, Vreid, Borknagar, Vintersorg, Agalloch, Eluveitie, Ensiferum, Finntroll, Kampfar, Moonsorrow, Death, Cryptopsy, Bloodbath, Aborted, Gorguts, Obscura, Amon Amarth, Atheist, Behemoth, Dark Tranquillity, Decapitated, Decrepit Birth, Deicide, Die Apokalyptischen Reiter, Dissection, Goatwhore, Necrophagist, Neuraxis... you get the idea.
Movies: I'm really not a movie buff, so my taste is pretty shitty. If I were a movie snob of any kind, it would be about Japanese horror movies. I love that shit. I usually end up watching action movies, though. My faves are James Bond, Die Hard, Terminator... the old stuff.
Books: lots of popular science, some politics/history, some true crime. My faves are Richard Dawkins, Chris Hitchens, Neil Degrasse-Tyson, Steven Pinker, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Stephen Hawking, Thomas Friedman, Friedrich Nietzsche, Aristotle, Chuck Darwin, V.S. Ramachandran, Michael Shermer, Penn Jillette, James Randi, Salman Rushdie, Mark Steyn, and Ayn Rand. Don't take the last two to mean that I'm a crazy right-winger (I'm not).
Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto
I'm not really pretentious enough to think anything I've done is "amazing," but... storm chasing?
