About Me

Hello!

It's nice to meet you! I'm Ryan, a 31 year old project manager who is originally from Pittsburgh PA but has lived in NYC for the past eight years. I am an outgoing and kind person, and love learning. Travelling and meeting new people are two my favorite things, and I am hoping to meet cool people and possibly make some new friends through couchsurfing.

If you'd like to learn more about me, you can add me on facebook @ Ryan M Mikita or on instagram @mister_mikita

Looking forward to meeting you and hopefully becoming friends!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I truly have eclectic taste. I appreciate great american oldies and classics, current music, and also have an appreciation for Jazz and classical music. I also love flamenco.

Movies: I'm a cinephile, so I love going to the movies. I appreciate art-house and independent films, but I also love the movies that come from the Hollywood machine.

Books: Very avid reader. Currently I'm reading Anthony Bourdain's The Tasty Bits--a collection of the personal essays he's released over the years, and I'm also reading a book called The Body Knows the Score, which is all about the way that trauma affects the individual.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I backpacked for a week in the bottom of Grand Gulch canyon in Utah with nothing but my 80L Osprey backpack. At one point we ran out of water and had to search through the canyons for potholes to pump filtered water from so that we could stay hydrated and basically survive. It was arguably the most challenging and satisfying experience of my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love discourse and challenging conversation, and I have a massive appetite for learning. I look forward to sharing my experiences with others and learning from their own.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Some good laughs and easy conversation! I also am a pretty good cook and would be willing to make some delicious food for my hosts if they were interested.
