About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn how much I do not know

ABOUT ME

I'm a student in Melbourne, 21 years old, who thinks far too much of himself and incessantly quotes things. I like watching Dr Who and listening to way too much Radiohead for anyone's sanity. I find it really difficult to write stuff about myself. Umm... I like quiet drinks and happy friends, the latter to excess but rarely the former. I believe happiness, not just for oneself but also for those near and dear to you, is the ultimate aim in life.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is not goal oriented, it is experience oriented. This is not a new idea, but it is hard to actually maintain. I try. In their heart, people are naturally good, only sometimes corrupted by circumstance. The simplest pleasures are usually the best, complication rarely helps. Spontaneity is a rare thing, and can be a force for great good as well as great harm. Nothing is more important than being aware of how much of a wanker one actually is. The above is testament to that.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have no ability to offer my couch at this stage, but in future I intend to give back. Right now, I'm just looking for somebody to help me see the true nature of Chilean/Argentinian/Bolivian/Peruvian life, rather than the obvious commercialised tourist traps.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None at all yet, unless you count having a kip on my aunt's couch in the country because there were no beds left. This is all new and exciting to me!

Interests

Gee, list anything I'm interested in? Ok then. I'm interested in...

- Travelling (duh!)
- The diverse and exciting lives of people in different places
- Dr. Who
- Other awesome tv shows, always on dvd though so that I can watch a few in a row
- Terrible airport/trashy thriller novels
- Scotch and dry
- Random acts of kindness
- Self-depricating humour
- Lazily sitting in the sun listening to relaxing music with friends. This one should probably have come first.

Music, Movies, and Books

As I have written at least 3 times now, Dr Who. I also really loved Game of Thrones (should be called Game of Boobs, but whatever) and The West Wing. The Wire is possibly the greatest show ever produced. Movies come and go, and rarely leave more than a faint positive impression on me, unless they are Willy WOnka and the Chocolate Factory. Books; I really like easy to read, intellectually bankrupt crime or war thrillers. Matthew Reilly is perfect for this. Pure brain-dead escapism on a page. Also, Harry Potter is fantastic.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hard to say, but the Tongariro crossing in New Zealand would be hard to beat. Walking up, across the bowl, then down a massive volcano (Mt. Doom, for those of you who like Lord of the Rings) was pretty awe inspiring.

Teach, Learn, Share

I speak english fluently, and have a very detailed knowledge of english grammmer to assist non-native speakers. My Spanish is passable, but needs a lot of work, so any help on that would of course be excellent. Other than that, there are lots of things I can do and lots of things I can teach, but it should be said that I can cook an amazing toasted cheese sandwich, and can also juggle.
