ABOUT ME

There are times en route to work when the sun comes up behind the east mountains coaxing oranges and pinks from the low clouds and throwing long shadows across the Eel River valley that restore that awe I've always had for this place. My childhood memories consist of countless trips visiting my grandparents who lived along Humboldt County's Eel River. I was pretty sure even early on that I'd live here for a duration.

I moved from Calistoga to attend Humboldt State University in Arcata. I received a BS in Natural Resources Planning and Interpretation. I've spent four summers as an Interpretive Ranger for Hendy Woods State Park and Redwood National and State Parks.

Since graduating I am now married. Lauren and I moved to Ferndale. She is a Social Worker in Eureka and I am a member of the AmeriCorps Watershed Stewards Project in Fortuna. Ferndale is a quiet place with few people our age so we welcome any company we can get!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was introduced to couch surfing by some friends who host regularly. I have been fortunate to meet many of the couch surfers they have hosted through potlucks and hikes. So far I've surfed with amazing folks in Connecticut and Utah. I really enjoy the tight-knit community that couch surfing creates and I look forward to hosting and surfing in the near future.

Interests

I love music! I love making it, collaborating with others in the making of it, and inviting its presence into any place where a few are gathered. I play guitar, am learning violin, I've played caixa in a Samba ensemble, I'm digging the glockenspiel...I also dabble in synthesizer.

I love our planet and all the beautiful people and places on it. I spend my spare time in search of Truth. I'd love to find out what you've learned.
