Hello!
I am basically like every other traveler backpacker on CS. Love to see the world, experience different cultures and learn other languages.
I try to upkeep my Chinese languages skills through various methods (movies, applications, etc.). Coming from Colorado I am an avid skier and was certified to dive in Bali, so those are my two extremes in sports!

Im currently working on my MA in Geography with a certificate in GIS. I hope to finish by Fall 2019.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The best way to experience a country is to meet the locals. While hostels certainly expose you to different cultures and people around the world there's still a fair share of the party people and wild ones that I am not to keen on being around. This gives a much more comfortable and enjoyable experience while traveling. Sam and I just started Couchsurfing in Malaysia right before we came to New Zealand and it made our time much more enjoyable and different from places where we simply stayed in a hostel. I am also a more 1 on 1 type of person, than a group person (Sam is fairly similar), though it is not as if we are anti-social.

Interests

I love learning languages and wish I could find the time to learn more (or master the ones I have a basic understanding). Anime helps with to upkeep my Japanese language skills. Sam has introduced me to the world of board games, and so we try to attend "Board game Meet-Ups."
I do like work out classes well, and when I get back into "the routine" try to attend yoga and Pilates classes.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite author is Margaret Atwood. I adore all her books but the one I love most is Cat's Eye. My other favorite books include Elegance of the Hedgehog, The Miniaturist and The Hours.
I don't watch a lot of movies but I do like Chinese martial arts movies such as House of Flying Daggers, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon...
I am not digging Lady Gaga's newest album Joanne so much but she would be my favorite artist when it comes to music. I also like Metric and the Killers.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been to the Great Barrier Reef! I was lucky to be on a 3 day live aboard boat while diving the reef. Such an awesome experience and one that I think all travelers should have when in the area.

I have travel size games that are really fun. Sam can cook up a mean Vietnamese dish.
