About Me

I am finishing university this May of 2016 in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Upon graduation, my friend and I are backpacking around Europe for 26 days from May 18th to June 13th. This will be my second time traveling around Europe, with my first time being last year when I was on a semester exchange at the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom. After spending five months in England for school and having the opportunity to travel to many cities in Europe during that time, I knew I had to come back to Europe as soon as possible. I will begin working as a sales engineer for Siemens this July, and my friend and I plan to spend the time in between finishing university and our first day of work by traveling!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am CouchSurfing because since I am studying in Europe for 5 months and would like to travel to as many places in Europe as I can, I will only be able to spend a few nights at the destinations I will be traveling to, and I believe the best way to get the full experience as a world traveler is by interacting with other world travelers who reside in the cities and countries I intend to visit. Although the tourist attractions throughout Europe are what attract many people, I am definitely interested in getting to know the locals of the cities I travel to and hear their input on the culture and society that they live. There is no better way to fulfill this experience other than through couchsurfing!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I backpacked around Europe for four weeks in the spring of 2015. From not sleeping because of early morning flights or late nights at the club to getting lost in a city and conversing with locals at pub, my desire to learn more about the world and society grew tremendously during this time. Studying engineering in university, there was not much time to learn about various cultures and countries, and so my first-hand experiences traveling to different cities fulfilled that during my time on exchange in the UK.
