About Me
Hello! My name is Ryota (you can call me Roy) and my wife’s name is Maiko. We’re a Japanese couple currently traveling around the world since April 2025.
Actually, we already completed our first round-the-world trip from April to September 2025 — and now we’re on our second journey!
I’m a doctor(cardiologist), and my wife is a nurse. We both quit our jobs to follow our dream of traveling the world together! 🩺💉
(We can even give you some health tips if you like… just for fun 😆)
During our first trip, we realized that traveling is not only about visiting beautiful places, but also about meeting local people, sharing stories, and building lifelong friendships.
That’s why we joined Couchsurfing this time — to connect more deeply with locals and experience each country from the inside.
We’re from Sapporo, Hokkaido, in northern Japan — a city famous for its snow festival, skiing, cherry blossoms, hiking trails, delicious food, and colorful autumn leaves.
It’s a beautiful place all year round! 🌸🏔🍁❄️

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because we want to make friends all over the world and learn about different cultures, lifestyles, and values.
When we return to Japan, we’d love to host travelers ourselves.

Music, Movies, and Books
We love J-POP and also enjoy discovering local music from the countries we visit.
Please share your favorite songs with us — we love learning about local culture through music! 🎶
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
While camping in Namibia, a jackal stole and ate our sandals and shoes during the night!
It was shocking but now it’s one of our funniest travel memories. 🐾
What I Can Share with Hosts
We can cook Japanese food, share Japanese culture and travel stories, and help you practice some Japanese language.
And who knows — maybe a mini health consultation over dinner? 😉
