About Me
Sveiki, Hello, Buongiorno and Goedendag.
I'm Rytas and that in Lithuanian literally means Morning. It's general knowledge that Morning is time for good conversations, open-mindedness and adventure-seeking. So I'd like to think this description applies to me as well. Furthermore, I love meeting people and learning something new. Life is an endless treasure, you just shouldn't forget to dig it up.
I have two native cities:
Kaunas, Lithuania, where I was born and grew up.
Vilnius, Lithuania, where I am still growing up.
Maybe that made me addicted to cities and their vibes. There is nothing better than a 7 am or 11 pm walk in the Altstadt.
Vilnius is thought of as a baroque pearl and Kaunas is considered to be one of the bastions of modernism.
So yeah, my admiration for cities is vast and encompasses all epochs.
Groningen on the other hand has already become a home town in just a few months, without roots here, but with all the heart.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My all childhood was with Couchsurfers. I remember a talk between my mom and a guest about volcanoes and how I was made to sit and listen despite not having good knowledge of English. I do remember riding a sled with another couchsurfer years later. I remember reading the poetry of one of our guests from Ireland. And even learning Indian dances with a guest from there. One of my core memories is a small talk before sleep with an Italian about pizza. I did say my favorite pizza was Hawaiian pizza and that was THE mistake.
All these experiences made me interested in people, travels, and other cultures. All people are interesting in their own way - especially travelers. Likewise, all places are interesting - were it a village or a metropolis. That's why there's nothing more interesting than learning about one's culture. And I want to do that as much as I can!

Music, Movies, and Books
Classical music is one of the fascinations of mine. Other than that, there are too many favourites to list them - anything from Sinatra to Mahmood.
***
My favorite movie is "La Grande Bellezza" by Paolo Sorrentino, one can rewatch it countless times and still find something absorbing.
Also, In Bruges is such a masterpiece. Imagine the bliss of seeing Brugge with my very own eyes.

I do love reading books as well. Thus, it's quite hard to name just a few. Despite that, I must mention One Hundred Years of Solitude. In addition, I love Shakespeare and to this day I have read 15 his plays or so? I lost count.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have hiked through all of Lithuania (a bit more than 500 km). Wouldn't be anything bizarre if I weren't at that time a child. It was Camino Lituano way and one day I wish to go to Camino de Santiago. We'll see...
Also, going to study to the Netherlands was an amazing decision, not in a sense of strange experience, but of one of the best I'm still living through.
Teach, Learn, Share
I will be always delighted to learn about your culture, language, history, and maybe even politics. And surely I'll have a lot of questions! In fact, I'll be interested to learn almost anything - even about the railway's debt situation!
The same way around - with a delight I can share my fascination with Lithuania's, Netherlands' culture, history, and maybe even political situation.
