About Me
FYI I'm constantly traveling so may not always check so shoot me a message on Instagram: Saathebasher
I'm Saad Bashir and am currently a 28 year old graduate of Georgetown University in Washington DC studying mostly energy economics, project finance and the Belt Road Initiative. My family is from Lahore, Pakistan and I also lived and worked at a bank in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan in 2018. I spent all of 2019 and into 2020 until Covid hitchhiking from Greece to Australia doing freelance journalism about the Belt and Road Initiatice, but only made it halfway unfortunately to Pakistan before the world shut down. I then spent the summer as a fisherman in Alaska with Russian Old Believers. Since then I have gone back to fish every summer for the past 6 years.
I bought a motorcycle and from 2020 to 2022, rode across all of North and South America until I made it to Ecuador where I lived for 1.5 years building environmental and education projects especially with the indigenous peoples of the Amazon.
After some time moving to Vienna and also back to the US, I'm currently studying for a Masters in Supply Chain Management specifically in green tech and battery supply chain, with additional interests in humanitarian logistics and internarional development. I've also begun actively investing/trading and developing some business ideas.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
After having travelled nearly full time for a decade, I love to help those who have similar attitudes and share cultures and stories. Discussing the knowledge of the world and philosophies of life is a fond pasttime and nowadays more than just traveling, I want to find ways to give back to the community and to pass on the help from those who've helped me in the past. My doors are always open for those who appreciate the lifestyle.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm always interested in music from any culture, especially in another language, traditional and modern fusion. These days I've mostly been listening to chill house type music and afrolatin house.
Unfortunately I'm pretty uneducated when it comes to movies and TV shows, but share your favorites and I'll watch!

Hitchhiked through Sudan during the revolution
Scuba dived in 6 countries
Hiked across the Darien Gap solo
Nearly started a trivia TV show in Ecuador
Motorbiked from US to Ecuador
3 months camping in West Africa
Teach, Learn, Share
I like to fully encompass the idea of being a nomad and my motto is to always live like a local. While traveling, I'm obsessed with learning every small detail on language, music, culture, history, and whatnot. And while hosting, I try to travel the world through the experiencess and knowledge of my guests!
I love chatting about any topic from international trade and economics, geopolitics, linguistics, food history and culture, traditional musical genres, and especially have gotten really into wanting to learn to sail! Actually though if you sail, please teach me everything!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I've got a very outgoing personality with eccentric albeit interesting tastes in music, travel, and a variety of cultural aspects. I can also chat about linguistics or energy for hours on end if you're interested in that stuff. Also a plethora of crazy stories for all who want to listen.
