ABOUT ME

Hello!! My name is pronounced like Sail-ee...like a sail boat. I can get into shy moods and prefer listening at first, but when I open up I'm a completely open book. i love dreaming up silly dreams and getting excited about future projects and trips. The world is both huge and small. i try to be scared of nothing although deep down, i'm a girly girl. PHILOSOPHY

Life is just a collection of experiences and memories and the people you meet, not the things you own or have. Unfortunately I always feel like I'm constantly running out of time to have more of these experiences. Buuuuttt, i'm trying to be more patient. And, it's so cliche but true that happiness is simply gratitude. Also, I'm self employed so starting in 2008, I'm trying to never settle down in any one place and live/work/play all at the same time in as many different places/cultures as possible.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've heard good things and met some good people but I have never actually slept at someone's place yet and unfortunately it's hard for me to host right now because I'm with my family.

drawings, paintings, anything handmade, folk art, animals, trying new delicious foods, surfing (beginner), snowboarding, anything to do with nature, traveling, reading both fiction and non-fiction, mid century modern furniture and architecture, art deco, flea markets, tree houses, waterfalls, swimming in the ocean at night, staying up till sunrise, both opposite extremes of being silly and stupid with a big group of friends and being by myself and doing things alone. I like learning about anything that's new to me.

music: sleater kinney, pj harvey, le tigre, joanna newsom, little wings, cat power, blonde redhead, neko case, johnny cash, nina simone, M.I.A., bjork, and embarrassing dancey stuff that i listen to while at the gym...
movies: Election, Amelie, Grizzly Man, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Chung King Express, American Beauty, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Stand By Me, Y Tu Mama Tambien, Frida, Darjeeling Limited....
books: miranda july, aimee bender, david sedaris, catcher in the rye, clockwork orange, middle sex, unbearable lightness of being, the bell jar, lolita, the little prince, old 1930s-50s children's books.
