About Me
Hi! I’m Sahar and I’ve always wanted to try couch surfing ever since I studied abroad in Germany in 2006 and heard about couch surfing and ride share programs. Being from the U.S. I would love to participate in these communities, even though they might not be as accessible as in Europe.
I’m Iranian American and my favorite activities are camping, running into the ocean, reading, and dancing. I’m a financial analyst at an international education organization and I live in Columbia Heights, Washington, DC with my partner. I’ve been there for 10 years! I’m vegetarian and am as close to living zero waste as possible with a partially participatory partner.
Currently, I’m in Banff (Canada) with my family and it’s BEAUTIFUL! I’m heading to Boston (my first time) on August 30 with my brother for a friend’s wedding and would love to fulfill my dream of couch surfing. I’m also trying to catch my brother on the benefits of community organizing, buy nothing groups, composting, and ditching his Amazon account. Wish me luck!
Banff has been a dream and my next goal is to go bike camping
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've never tried this before and the friends I admire most have all done it. I wanted to be on the storytelling side for once instead of the awe-stuck one, so I decided I'm going to make this trip the couchsurfing initiation trip.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite book is the Picture of Dorian Grey, but I only remember 3 books that I haven't liked. I like reading most anything that can take my mind on an adventure.
My favorite movies would be la chispa de la vida, Queen, Volver, Burn After Reading, Death at a Funeral (the British version) and The Birdcage with the most beloved of them all, Robin Williams.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
While in Morocco, I went to the Sahara desert as often as I could. I was a little over excited my first time and decided that I wanted to sleep on the dunes instead of the tents without realizing how far the temperatures drop on desert nights. Let's just say I'm lucky I didn't freeze solid.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd be happy to teach you anything you'd like to know about the Persian language and culture. Dancing included! I can also make a Persian dish if you'd like to try something new.
