Overview
About Me
Hey! I’m Sahil – a backpacker, software engineer, amateur painter, and forever-curious soul from India, currently based in Bangalore. I travel the way some people fall in love: slowly, curiously, and with my whole heart. My backpack is less about luggage and more about stories waiting to happen.
During COVID, I wandered through hidden Indian villages and spent 10 days in complete silence in the hills of Nepal practicing Vipassana meditation – no phone, no talking, just me, my breath, and more inner noise than I knew existed. It cracked me open in the best way, teaching me stillness, presence, and the surprising luxury of having nothing to do but be.
I’m also into Shinrin-yoku (forest bathing) – the art of slow, sensory walks that make you feel like the trees have adopted you. If we meet and happen to be somewhere with nature, I’d love to guide you through one: slowing down, tuning into the rustle of leaves, the scent of the earth, and the quiet that seeps into your bones until the world feels softer.
By day, I work in tech (backend systems, if that excites you), but I’m happiest swapping stories about life, art, and why humans are so delightfully messy. Vegetarian, sunset admirer, kindness enthusiast. Small talk isn’t my forte unless we make it ironically deep.
Let’s share a beer, a walk, or maybe just sit in silence if that’s what the day calls for.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because hotels don’t offer 2 AM life talks over chai, spontaneous cooking lessons, or the kind of local gossip you only get when you’ve earned someone’s couch. I’m here for human stories, unexpected adventures, and to collect moments that don’t fit in an Instagram caption.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Went on a solo backpacking journey across India during the pandemic, then crossed into Nepal for 10 days of Vipassana in silence. That quiet taught me more than any conversation ever could – and reminded me how much peace can exist beneath the chaos.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach:
I can share what I’ve learned through meditation (especially Vipassana), emotional healing work, and my fascination with human psychology – from attachment styles to communication patterns. I can show you how to make proper Indian chai, share a bit of Hindi or Rajasthani culture, and if you’re into tech, geek out with you about backend architecture.
Learn:
I’m endlessly curious about how people think, love, and find meaning. I want to know your worldview, your cultural quirks, and how your mind behaves under pressure… or in love. I’m learning to paint, so show me how you see the world in color and texture. If you have a favorite ritual for slowing down – from morning tea ceremonies to midnight stargazing – I’m all ears.
Share:
Honest conversations, too many “why are humans like this?” thoughts, music, laughter, travel tales from my backpacking life, and my full attention. If we click, we’ll probably talk like it’s a philosophy class at 2 AM. And if we’re somewhere green, maybe you’ll get your first taste of forest bathing with me as your guide.
What I Can Share with Hosts
• Indian chai strong enough to fix bad days
• A vegetarian meal cooked with love (and probably too many spices)
• A forest bathing session if there are trees nearby, where we move slower than Wi-Fi in the mountains
• Music, travel stories, and the occasional philosophical debate about why socks keep disappearing in the wash
• Help with tech stuff… or at least moral support while it crashes
