About Me

Born in Florida. Lived in Iowa, Pennsylvania, Germany, Virginia, New Mexico, North Dakota, and West Virginia.

Became a missionary directly following high school. Worked with leprosy colonies in India. Built churches in the Dominican Republic.

Began college. Dropped my faith. Majored in Anthropology and English.

Went soul-searching in Iceland.

Left the world and lived on the Mescalero Apache Reservation.

Served as an AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteer in Service to America) at the United Tribes Technical College in Bismarck, North Dakota from April 2014 to April 2015. Currently serving as an AmeriCorps Tribal Colleges & Universities (TCU) VISTA Leader.

Additionally, I'm also serving as a Travel Educator for Hostelling International USA, representing the southern West Virginia community. I host workshops on traveling tips!

I'm basically the accumulation of all of those that I've loved, all of the wondrous locations I've ventured to, and all of the conversations that have wrecked my perspective. I take pleasure in simplicity, enjoy making a fool out of myself, and try to find the beauty in everyone.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

Started off by surfing overseas, then hosted out of my dorm room during college. Fell in love with the concept, and while I'm unable to have overnighters during my volunteer assignment, I still love to get together with Couchsurfers as much as possible. Some of the most wonderful of friends have been made from this beautiful community.

I'm drawn to this community for the cultural immersion that stems from stepping into a stranger's home. The benefits should even out among the two, with each grasping a hold of a newer truth that sticks with them past when they eventually depart from one another.
