ABOUT ME

Well, I, like all people, am defined not only by the state of my mind and body, but also by my environment. In fact, I consider the world to be my body. So, to get a complete description of myself, you'd end up having to define my context, which is the current state of the universe as a whole. And I am not going to try to write all that down, by god!

Let's just say I am curious (in both senses of the word), thought-provoking, passionate, friendly, and humble.

remembering my dreams, sneaking, acting, doing one-handed cartwheels, dancing, giving advice, running through the woods really fast without injuring myself, identifying with people, taking matters of great concern lightly and taking matters of little concern seriously, learning very quickly, scaring the bejezus out of people (via sneaking), writing (or so I'd like to pretend), wasting time, spending quality time.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Evacuating from my home in New Orleans due to Hurricane Katrina, and, homeless, heading directly from there to Burning Man '05, which was my first time at the Burn. What an amazing experience.

How about a thought I had recently regarding Enlightenment, and living your life in harmony with the world:

I don't much care for the idea of "Enlightenment". My main problem with it is that it is a goal. A destination. A thing to want, to run towards, to struggle for, to pine for, etc. It is said that those who WANT enlightenment will never attain it.

Additionally, if one's goal is "enlightenment", which one of a thousand teachings is their method? My "goal" is simply to Love, and do my Will. My method is simply to Love, and do my Will. It is impossible for me to fail. This is what happens when your goal and you method are one in the same.

There is no state of attainment "above" where you currently are where some arbitrary state of awareness suddenly grants you the ability to move without conflicting with the 'rest of the world'. This moment is now.

One can learn a lot from water. Water's Will is to take the form of any container it is placed into, without lust for result. When placed among a rocky stream bed, it forms it's self around the rocks and naturally flows among them in the most energy efficient manner possible. It is impossible for one to keep water from doing this. Place your hand in front of a rivulet of water in an attempt to stop it from flowing downhill. Some might think you are hindering its Will by stopping it from doing what it does naturally (flow downhill). But in fact, you are not. Your hand is merely changing the environment in which the water exists, and it is adapting. It is impossible for water to come into conflict with the 'rest of the world'. This is because the 'rest of the world' shapes the will of the water.

Just a thought.
