Sobre mí

Hi! I’m Sakura!

I'm half Nigerian and half Japanese, born and raised in Japan. Growing up with a mixed background gave me a deep curiosity about the world and a love for connecting with people from all walks of life.

I've been traveling with just my backpack, an open heart, and a curious mind. I enjoy meeting people from different cultures, sharing stories, and learning how others live.

While traveling through Australia, I stopped by a small local art gallery - and that moment changed everything. I ended up creating and selling my art there, painted my first big piece, and met inspiring artists who encouraged me to explore my creativity more deeply.

Later, I ran out of money (classic backpacker moment!) and started selling my art on the street. It wasn't always easy, but I met so many kind and generous people who helped me keep going - something I'll always be grateful for.

Eventually, I had the chance to volunteer as a youth worker in a remote Aboriginal community. I lived there for about 10 months, and it became one of the most meaningful parts of my journey. Working with kids had been my dream since I was little, and their energy, honestly, laughter reminded me why I love doing what I do.

I'm passionate about nature, cooking, animals, and creating meaningful connections. I'm clean, respectful, easygoing - and always happy to help out!
Looking forward to meeting kind souls and making beautiful memories together!

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

I use Couchsurfing because I believe the most beautiful part of traveling isn't just the places, but the people you meet along the way.
I love sharing stories, meals, and little moments with people from different backgrounds. Staying with locals helps me understand a place in a deeper, more personal way — something you can't get from a hotel or a guidebook.
Couchsurfing reminds me how kind and generous the world can be. After being helped by so many amazing people throughout my journey, l'd love to connect, share, and give back in any way I can.

Intereses

I'm deeply interested in simple, traditional ways of living — staying connected to nature, plants, and the rhythms of the earth.
I care a lot about education and how we raise and support children. I've always felt drawn to their honesty, creativity, and energy.
I also enjoy reading, especially fantasy, philosophy, and psychology - anything that opens up new ways of thinking or sparks the imagination.
And of course, I love art! I'm always creating something - painting, weaving, journaling, or trying out new crafts.
I guess I'm just curious about how people live, think, feel, and create — and I love learning about that through connection!

Música, películas y libros

I listen all kinds of music. ABBA, Bob Marley, The Lumineers, and Lana Del Rey are my favorites.
My favorite book is Where the crawdads sing.

Algo increíble que he hecho

One amazing thing l've done was deciding to leave home at 18 and move to a country where I didn't know a single person. That decision became the start of everything — it completely changed my life.
I've had so many unforgettable experiences since then, but the most precious part has always been the people l've met. Meeting others has shaped my journey in ways I never imagined.
Many people were against it at the time, but taking that first step on my own led me to incredible connections and lifelong memories.
That moment still gives me strength today
- whenever I need courage or motivation, 1 look back and remind myself: I did it once, I can do it again.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

In Japan, I volunteered teaching Japanese to children from immigrant families who were struggling to adapt. While traveling, I also enjoy writing people's names in Japanese kanji as a small cultural gift.
In Australia, I worked as a youth worker in a remote Aboriginal community. I created programs for children - including art, storytelling, and fun activities — while also supporting their emotional wellbeing, and their parents' too.
I learned how to weave traditional baskets from the local women, and now I can make a basket pretty much anywhere!
As I continue to travel and paint, I love learning about different cultures and sharing traditions, stories, and art with others along the way.

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones

I'd love to share stories, laughs, meals, and a little piece of my culture with you.
I can cook Japanese dishes (or something random from my backpacker experiments ), draw your name in Japanese kanji, or even teach you how to weave a traditional basket I learned in a remote Aboriginal community.
I also love to listen — whether it's about your life, your hometown, or your dreams.
Whether we're chatting over a cup of tea or just crossing paths briefly, I'm always happy to connect and share good energy.
