About Me

Hello there!

Things to know about me? Well, I would say that I am an easy company. Having worked in lots of different areas of expertice, I have also learned to adjust. After many years of doubts regarding choice of career, I finally "settled" for the love of my life - the German language. Which is why I am currently studying to become a German teacher. But actually I do very much enjoy trying new things, so who knows what I will do next? Atleast now I have something to fall back on!

Another thing I love doing is sports and I gladly spend my free time exercising it. Cross country-skiing, running, cycling, working out at the gym.. they all make my day ten times better. Favourite sport, however, is without doubt floorball. It's a Swedish national sport - not very well known outside of northern Europe!
I care a lot about the environment and I'm involved in animal rights, for which I definitely have a soft spot, and I also live my life as a vegan. This doesn't make me boring or annoying though, don't worry. I love having a pint or three and I believe I have heard any phrase on veganism - feel free to try me - but my own favorite must be: "How do you know if someone's vegan? Don't worry, they'll tell you!" And just like that I live up to the stereotype ;-)

The greatest compliment for me is when someone is feeling comfortable in my company. Therefore I don't mind being quiet or having a chat about this and that as long as we're both just being ourselfs. If you visit me, or host me, please know that I come with few expectations. And if you're wondering anything else about me I'll add another favourite quote of mine: Remember - you can always ask :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love the idea of offering people a free place to stay which enables you to actually go and visit places without having to spend money on a hotel room or a hostel. It also connects with the locals of a town or a city - something I value very much. This type of encounter is the greatest benefit of Couchsurfing, no doubt!

Interests

I have lot of "shallow" interests. With this I mean that I may not know that much about them, but for example sunken ships is something that really fascinates me. Same goes for caves and mines. I love to talk about it! Can't brag with numbers and names though... apart from the Titanic of course. My one favourite ship. It's not quite the same thing, but did you know for example that you have a minute to escape from a sinking car before it's overfilled with water? Bring me facts like this and I'm all ears.

This year I also began drawing and I am trying to relearn the lost Spanish from high school. I've also refurnished an arm chair for the first time. My favourite time of the day is always when the evening turns to night. I very much prefer the stillness of the darker times of the year, which is why my favourite season is autumn (and the colours of the trees match with my red hair!) Am a night owl in every way, but will get up in the morning if I have to.

If we would run out of subject to talk about, we can always turn to my favorite topic: Feelings and thoughts! There is nothing more interesting than really getting to know someone. With that being said, I of course, love any conversation that goes beyond the, still much appreciated, niceness of small talk :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Basically everything that is considered "old music". I do have a very soft spot for country music and some soft electro pop with soft male voices singing.
Favorite TV-show is Outlander, Gossip Girl and Twin Peaks. Favorite film is the Titanic and Interstellar. Favourite books must be the triology from Stieg Larsson (starting with) "the girl with the dragon tattoo" and in order to sound more cultural: the pilgrim years of the colourless Mr Tazaki by Haruki Murakami.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've completed a so called "Swedish Classic" twice which means:
90 km cross country-skiing
300 km cycling
3 km swimming
30 km running
(not all in one day though!)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you German, how to cook vegan, how to flirt in different ways and to ask questions that are connecting instead of paralleling.
