ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm an artist ( www.sallyfisherart.com.au ) and a teacher, I am also a mother of four. At the risk of sounding cliched, I love travelling and meeting people...really! I leave my family occasionally to have short adventures abroad. I am a simple person with limited funds, I'm comfortable staying in a tent or a palace. I don't smoke or drink because I value my health and because I always monumentally embarrass myself if I do. I'm a vegetarian - I prefer the term 'cruelty-free', yes it's a bit offensive I know, but it does succinctly express where I'm coming from. I'm old enough to recognize and avoid crap, but young enough to still enjoy my life. I hate the fact that I love people. Any place is only as good as the people there.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am currently not in a situation to host surfers because I am not at home. I am, at the moment seeking couches for my travels, and offering to reciprocate the favor when I replant my feet and have a home again.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am about to travel after a few years break. I couch surfed in Italy only. This time i will have one of my wonderful offspring with me.

Interests

Music is important to me. I just love it. I love dancing and singing, my car and my shower are my concert halls. Music can cheer you up, make you laugh and cry.
I enjoy talking with young people, they are insightful and surprising.
I like being outdoors in the sun, walking, riding, rowing,...
Animals are very interesting to me, bugs, birds, reptiles, all animals.
Of course Art is a passion I have as well, creating it, teaching it, experiencing it.

Music, Movies, and Books

Can i mention here that I hate TV. I could write a book on all the reasons why I hate TV.
Music, I am particular about music because it effects me so much, I love it. Favorites...dance music like Acid crunk electronica dubstep /dirty dubstep, passionate stuff like piano sonatas, any good female vocalists...Christina Agulera, Jessica Mauboy, Jessie J, and poets like Tom Waits and Lior, sad stuff like good old country n western, old R & B and gangsta rappers...I love it.
Books...sorry to say I don't read books, nor newspapers, etc.
Movies...favorites are the epic mythological monster movies made in the sixties like 'Jason and the Argonauts', 'The Golden Fleece', and the old black & white monster movies like the original 'King Kong' and 'The monster from the Black Lagoon'...awesome. I also love sci-fi and suspense thrillers and good comedies. When I'm alone I like to watch dramas like Woody Allen directed ones which are insightful and leave you pondering for days.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing moments I have experienced are on very personal levels I suppose, not for public access, BUT I can say that I am more excited about experiencing things than seeing or buying or having things. A breathtaking view is not as amazing to me as sharing a cuppa with a close friend. I can however, say that bringing a mini human into the world, and jumping out of an aeroplane, and having a bull elephant threatening to charge me, are all pretty cool things too. I just have some amazing close friends.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have many things which I love to share, my knowledge and skills as an artist, a singer, a mother, a jeweller and metalsmith, a woodworker, a problem-solver/organiser (sometimes also known as 'bossy control freak'), a vegan chef, traveller, babysitter for tired parents who need a break.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I call myself an 'Art Coach'. I can teach anyone to be an artist. Also vegan cooking. Excellent conversations. My 13 year old son plays piano and sings. We love all animals. We can help with childcare, pet care, work, etc.
