About Me

Hey! I'm Sal, a 23 year old woman from Newcastle, UK.

I'm about to start my first ever solo adventure and am so excited to get outside my comfort zone and see what challenges come my way. I have just graduated from university in Norwich, UK and am setting off for Thailand and New Zealand on 1st November 2016.

I grew up in Guernsey, in the Channel Islands :-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As I have up to 12 months in New Zealand on a working holiday visa I would love to spend a little while in many different areas to get to really get to know the country - the culture, the people, the landscape and the food!

I hope Couchsurfing would allow me to meet locals and get a more realistic perception of NZ than staying in backpacker hostels would, plus you know all the good hikes and cool places to visit that tourists are less likely to get to experience!

Interests

I played rugby at university and would absolutely love to see the All Blacks play. I have also had my own horses and have stayed as involved as possible during uni but am looking forward to working with horses at a couple of natural horsemanship yards in NZ! Yoga. Dogs - are dogs an interest?

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to a really wide range of music but mostly chilled acoustic stuff and old songs I can sing along to. Some artists I love are Lighthouse family, Annie Lennox, Pink, Adele, Bob Marley, Faithless, Ed Sheeran, Hozier, Bastille, Jazon Mraz, Yuna, Norah Jones and many more! I'm happy to listen to most music!

I like a lot of Tarantino and Guy Ritchie movies, but also rom coms, dramas, travel, thrillers, Disney - I can't even pick a favourite genre never mind film! I also love a good TV Series (much easier to pick Friends as a solid favourite).

I love inspiring travel books, laugh out loud and embarrass you in public books, scare you so you can't get to sleep books, fall in love with a flawed character and make you cry books - I really just like reading.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My biggest achievement has to be leaving home, finishing university and becoming a qualified Speech and Language Therapist.

Something more exciting I have done recently would be exploring Crete and getting to visit Spinalonga - the last leper colony in Europe, and an amazing cave which in Greek mythology is the birthplace of Zeus - absolutely stunning views!

Teach, Learn, Share

I love learning new skills so if you have anything you'd like to teach me I'd love to learn! I'm keen to learn to surf, ski and play the guitar!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good food and drink, laughs and adventures.

I can show you some great vegan recipes. I know some basic British Sign Language if you were interested in learning that. I could teach you a party trick which a lot of people can't do!

Countries I’ve Visited
