To paraphrase Mark Twain- To not let my schooling get in the way of my education.

ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in a small town in Oklahoma but gave gotten married and become a Kansan. I am studying for a Master Degree in Social Work in Wichita, so I suppose I want to try to make a living out of helping people. I like to think I'm easy going, always interested in meeting kindred spirits and sharing a coffee or beer. My wife and I enjoy sharing and experiencing cultures, especially food. I love doing things outside. Because central Kansas lacks a lot of wilderness or terrain, I've gotten into road cycling, slacklining, and have always enjoyed soccer.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

If my wife and I are able, we enjoy hosting (although currently we have pretty modest accommodations) or even just meeting new people passing through our city. Because of our busy schedules we have not been able to learn a lot about the nightlife and sights in Wichita although we do have some knowledge.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have enjoyed hosting so far but hope to do some surfing in the future when there is a break from school.

Interests

Right now most of my time is spent studying but soon it will be filled with more important things such as meeting people and riding bicycle.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Braveheart, Batman movies by Christopher Nolan, The Lives of Others, Amelie, Once

Music: Civil Wars, Mumford and Sons, Ray Lamontagne, Coldplay, Johny Cash, some classic American bands, but most of my time in the car is spent listening to National Public Radio (NPR)

Books/Authors: Mark Twain, Dan Brown, The Harry Potter series, To Kill A Mockingbird, Henri Nouwen, C.S. Lewis, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, John Krakauer and I'm sure there are some others, but I've only been able to really read for school so I've forgotten some of my favorite "for fun" books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The view of the world from the top of mountains hiked is an amazing sight. I've hiked three 14,000 ft peaks in Colorado and backpacked in Northern New Mexico.
