About Me

CURRENT MISSION

First trip to England!!! Dreams coming true!

ABOUT ME

I'm a theater artist living in New York City. Playwright, actor, director, divisor. I create wild, imaginative worlds for audiences to experience.

Then, to fuel all of this creation, I take it as my job is to live my life, travel, meet people, and experience as much as I can. This gives me all sorts of stuff to make art about. And this is my life obsession.

As a person, I smile and laugh a lot. I'm very chill. I prefer a nice, easy conversation with a small group of friends over dinner and drinks rather than dancing the night away at a bar or club. More of a day person than a night owl though I can be coerced into staying out late on occasion for a good reason. People are generally comfortable with me very quickly.

PHILOSOPHY

I think everyone is an artist and the people who recognize the artistry in what they do tend to have more good days than bad. I also think life is terribly hard and so, ultimately, in order to survive and be happy most days it's a matter of doing whatever you want to do as long as you don't hurt yourself or those around you. Beyond that, I try not to judge anyone for anything.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I don't have room in my apartment to host travelers in NYC but I do meet up with folks occasionally for coffee to give them tips. I've lived in the city for 14 years so I know the inside scoop. :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Two years ago I spent a summer traveling around the United States by train, couchsurfing occasionally along the way. Twelve cities in 45 days. It was life changing. The people I met, the hospitality they showed astounded me

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Harold and Maude, anything Miyazaki, all the movies I fell in love with as a child, David Lean, Now, Voyager, To Kill a Mockingbird, Hedwig, The Jewel in the Crown... Books: Flesh and Blood, Beloved, Invisible Man, The Awakening, Ginsberg, Whitman, Atwood, Edna St. Vincent Milay. Music: Oh anything. Really. My favorite musicians activate their music in a way that makes me feel something. Anything.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Been to the top of Mt. Washington, gave a concert in Union Square, NY, conquered Amtrak travel.

Teach, Learn, Share

Gender is separate from sex. If we can all figure out a way to separate those two things in our minds and hold on to that notion then we can work towards ending homophobia, sexism, transphobia and reduction of the human spirit into rigidly-imagined and limiting categories.
