My name is Sam and I am 27 years old. I have used workaway and couchsurfer many times while traveling and have had great experiences with it (first time was in Peru when I was 19.) I am a helicopter pilot living in Juneau Alaska currently. I recently moved here from Phoenix, Arizona, where I grew up. I try to live a life close to nature because it's the type of experience that grounds me. I love getting absorbed in the sensations of the wind flowing through the trees, the birds chirping, and the sun (or rain) on my face. It's a feeling that makes me more appreciative of being alive. Hiking, camping, and yoga are common activities for me. I also love the other extremes of life: going to music festivals, visiting cities with art and culture, and meeting new people, especially independent thinkers who don't necessarily go along with the mainstream. Different life styles appeal to me; I have spent months living in remote cabins with no luxuries, but I can also enjoy a nice meal and cocktail. I love learning about anything from history to molecular biology. Listening to music and podcasts often take up large parts of my day. My goal is to live an adventurous life, and to have the freedom to explore the world in a unique way. I would describe myself as easy-going, calm, and curious.
