About Me

I grew up in rural Washington in the United States. My childhood was spent on the farm. Much of the money I made for my university studies came from raising and selling hogs. I love track and field. I don't compete anymore, but I still love to run. I also have a love of music. I play the guitar, the piano and the trumpet

When I was 18, I left home and went to San Antonio, Texas for two years doing service for my church. When I got home, I began working on my applied mathematics degree at Brigham Young University. I still plan to finish my degree, but a friend of mine encouraged me to take a semester off to travel the world. I look forward to a new experience as we explore Europe.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My friend and I are looking to explore the world. Of course we want to see famous sights, but more than that, we want to meet new people. I have spent much of my life exposed only to people that act and think the way I do. I want to change that and learn how to see the world differently.

When I return, want to have written a book. I would like you to be part of it. I hope to meet someone new every day and write about them. I want to learn about their background, their accomplishments, the tragedies of their lives and what advice they can give me about living a fulfilling life.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am part of a team working on manipulating the extracellular matrix to slow cancer growth. Growing up, I always liked math. Now my job is allowing me to use mathematics to solve real world problems, and I love it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am fluent in Spanish and English. I have taught English formally and tutored for Spanish. I also am involved in the intersection of mathematics and the practical world and would love to teach you about that if you are interested. I am interested in learning about political, religious and other views that are different from my own. I want to learn about different cultures and especially what the food is like in different countries. I would love to exchange recipes!
