I think the best way to discover a place is with someone who loves it and that want to share it with other people. I have found that lot of persons on couchsurfing have the same spirit, so it seems to me that it is the best way to visit and travel! Hate to find my next destination in a tourist guide (but keep doing it)

I also try to avoid overcrowded places, in search of authenticity, calm and friendly people.

Going down a ice-cold mountain river with friends, bare footed, for no reason and ending up sick and cold at the back of a truck... totally worth it!

Spending four month in Liverpool, knowing no one, and meeting lot of completely crazy people in this insane city!

More recently, attempted a sunset on the top of the Barù volcan in Panama: The only place on earth where you can see the Pacific and the Atlantic oceans at the same time... A kind of magic, still have goose bumps
