Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'd like to see a lot of the world - while I have the opportunity to do so, financing trips is the hard part. What I lack in money, though, I try my best to make up for with a willingness to lend aid and give freely of what I do have.

Music, Movies, and Books

I can never choose favourite music because there is simply too much. At the moment, though, I'm listening to a lot of Martin Simpson, Dallahan, AC/DC, Mitch Murder, ZZ Top, Tool, Little Feat, Bob Seger, Santana, Mississippi John Hurt and Snarky Puppy.

Movies are also hard to choose but The Big Lebowski, Gladiator, Alien, Pulp Fiction, Blade Runner, Leon and The Blues Brothers are all up there.

As for books... The Drenai series by David Gemmell, Culture series by Iain M. Banks, Discworld series by Terry Pratchett, Lord of the Rings, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, anything by Bill Bryson.. and others!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Camped out in the Canadian winter at -35c in a snow shelter with just my clothes, a fishing rod, a hatchet and a fire steel.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am self taught in green woodworking - aka crafting objects from wood before it is seasoned - and would be happy to pass on the knowledge of using a knife and hatchet to create simple, low-impact, every day objects. I am a generalist in a lot of things and an expert in none. I can cook, sew, repair, fix computers etc, carry heavy things, reach the tall shelves, I can proof read your written English, I can probably come up with an improvised practical solution to physical problems with a piece of wood and a knife (though I may be setting myself up for failure, having said that).
