About Me

CURRENT MISSION
To live life such that I 'do not go gentle into that good night'.

ABOUT ME
I am a music student (pianist) in Germany who grew up in Brunei Darussalam with a Malaysian nationality. I spend most of my waking hours learning something new (particularly languages). Coming from a background of different cultures, I enjoy the company of people, especially those who are different in every way from me.

PHILOSOPHY
'No why. Just here' - John Cage

I believe in being open in everything I do, which explains a little bit why a lot of the things I do end up being strange experiments. I also place importance in being here and not deferring happiness too much. This means taking care of the body and facing fears!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've been hosted once with an extremely kind fellow and I've hosted an extremely kind couple!

Interests

Writing; I own several notebooks dedicated to different kinds of writing.
Reading; I am proud to say I read in several languages.
Cooking; any kind of cuisine except that of my own culture (no idea what it is).
Music; from tinkling in DAWs to scribbling on manuscript to jamming jazz with friends to quietly listening to ambient tracks.
Art; practitioner of origami, sometimes spending days at a time to origami projects.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC
I listen intently to anything I feel worth giving attention to. Somedays I try to digest Mahler symphonies, other days I try to analyze structures of electronic songs. My ears are always hungry.

MOVIES
I do not watch too many films, but I have enjoyed Miyazaki films!

BOOKS
Modern Classics, which means Garcia Marquez and Kundera. Contemporary, which means David Mitchell. I read a deal lot of non-fiction as well!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Learning how to live away from home, independently and responsibly~

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to fold roses (if you are interested in that kind of thing) or solve rubiks cubes. I can even show you how to fold a shirt in under 5 seconds! I also have a conductor's baton and you can play with it if you like (:

What I Can Share with Hosts

A thoroughly peaceful and different experience (:

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, China, Czech Republic, Germany, Malaysia, Singapore

Countries I’ve Lived In

Brunei Darussalam, Germany
