ABOUT ME

Ryan and I have been married for 4 years. We recently became foster parents (though we do not currently have any foster kids). However, we sometimes take emergency placements so that could change.

Ryan is an introverted urban homesteader type who enjoys playing with dogs and making his own soap.

Sam works with low income families and likes baking, gardening and reading.

We are easy-going, open and thoughtful people who enjoy meeting new people and trying new things. We value good manners, open minds and a sense of humor above most other things.

PHILOSOPHY

Ryan and I are both capital H Helpers. We both work for nonprofits and spend a great deal of time and energy thinking about how to make our little part of the world better.

We mostly host as a way to share what we have with others. We hope all of our guests feel welcome and at ease in our home.

We've surfed around the US and hosted numerous people in our home.

We have incredibly varied and wide-ranging tastes. Is it totally a cop out to say we love anything awesome? Yes? Okay..

Sam reads mostly modern fiction and Ryan reads almost exclusively non-fiction.

We don't have proper TV channels but have Netflix streaming.

We tend to measure our life/success in personal landmarks. Getting married was amazing, we just bought our first house etc.
