About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Get it together!

ABOUT ME

Hi I'm Samantha. I'm originally from Berkeley California, but lived in New York City for the last five years of my life. Last year I moved to Madrid where I work as an English teacher and am constantly striving to improve my Spanish and discover more of this lovely city.

PHILOSOPHY

Treat others kindly and with respect.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My roommate in New York and I mainly hosted couch surfers. Now that I'm in Europe I use CS both as a surfer and host.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been amazed by how many wonderful people my friends and I have been lucky enough to meet over couchsurfing. It´s an incredible website that makes me more optimistic about humanan nature.

Interests

I like to be outside as much as possible and try to spend my free time exploring the city and going on mini adventures. I love eating delicious foods, riding bikes, and having reading parties in the park. I'm interested in social justice issues and politics. I love to travel and see as much of the world as I can.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a wide range of music I like. Obviously Beyonce is never not amazing, but I listen to every genre.

I love Woody Allen, Cohen Brothers, or anything with Paul Rudd or Jason Segel. I'm up to see anything that doesn't have too many boring action scenes. Obvious Child was my favorite movie this year.

I've recently read The Museum of Innocence by Orhan Pamuk (loved), White Noise by Don DeLillo (meh), and Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami (awesome!). Right now I'm trying to read only in Spanish.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A few years ago I studied abroad for a semester in Buenos Aires. Two friends and I took some time to travel North and ended up taking an 8 hour hike up into the Andes with a 15 year old girl as our guide. I had never been exposed to such natural beauty. I know it sounds so cliche, but it was really indescribable.

Little moments, like when I get to swim in the ocean, or when I'm walking around some neighborhood and realize how incredibly pretty it is, I get hit with a feeling of total happiness.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm trying to learn Spanish so if you want to practice with me that would be great! I can teach you how to make a traditional all American breakfast.
